Gemini (May 21 - June 21)

Top 10 Reasons Your A Gemini
Here you will find Geminis, the communicators of the zodiac. If it is spoken or written, a Gemini is often involved. Do you want to know the latest gossip? Find a Gemini and they will know everything about everyone's life. Often quite intelligent and insightful. Quick-witted people who are sometimes standup comics on or off the stage. Always moving and some are even wonderful dancers and runners. Moving at an incredible speed, they can do several things at once. They talk fast and often talk with their hands. Unable to stay with projects or relationships for any length of time. Their lungs give out more often than any other body part due to all that communicating. (More on Gemini Essence)

You, dear Gemini, have something to say, to preach, to write, to communicate. You are the messenger: a translator and interpreter of the world. You gather information and then share the news, what’s what, the information that helps all of us to have more enjoyable, knowledgeable, and meaningful lives.

Some Geminis speak through their poetry, such as Walt Whitman and W.B. Yeats. Some sing it, like Jewel, Alanis Morissette and “the godfather of soul,” James Brown. Mike Meyers and Tim Allen communicate through comedy and Mary Cassatt and Paul Gauguin through their paintings. Skaters Tara Lipinski and Ekaterina Gordeeva communicate through body language. Some translate the world through their philosophy like Jean Paul Sartre, Theosophist Alice Bailey, and Methodist church founder, John Wesley.

Geminis are natural-born communicators although, as you can see by the above list, they communicate in a variety of ways. As an air sign, you respond to the world through your mind, gathering and distributing information. Comfortable in the mental realms, all Geminis are thinkers even if they are quiet -- although most Geminis like to communicate out loud.

Mercury is Gemini’s ruling planet. In mythology, Mercury is the traveling ambassador of the gods carrying messages back and forth between humans and the gods, and among the gods themselves. Like Mercury, you are highly perceptive and easily make connections between ideas and concepts bridging the gap among worlds, ideas, and people.

In this world there are many Gemini messengers. Rachel Carson, an ecologist and marine biologist, wrote Silent Spring in 1962, which highlighted the effects of pesticides on food and the environment. This book led to a presidential commission and fostered the modern environmental movement. Oceanographer Jacque Cousteau revealed the mysteries of the ocean through his study and photography of undersea life. Anne Frank, who hid from the Nazis for 25 months and eventually died in a concentration camp during World War ll, wrote about her experiences in her famous diary. Her story is a powerful message about the horrors of the Holocaust.

Geminis are much more sensitive than they appear to be at first glance. Although Gemini is a light, airy sign, its symbol the twins represents duality: dark and light, good and bad, day and night, heaven and earth. There are many stories that draw on this theme of opposites. Much of your life journey is concerned with learning to work with your twin nature. As a Gemini, you truly dwell in two realms. The Greek myth associated with this sign yields some interesting clues to your inner life.

Castor and Pollux were the twin sons of Zeus, the King of the Gods, and Leda. Castor was mortal and Pollux was immortal. These twins were so fond of each other that when Castor died, Zeus took pity on them and let them trade places periodically, switching their mortal and immortal status. Even though one twin was in the heavens while the other on earth, they were able to spend time together while switching places.

Sometimes you, too, reside in the heavens, your feet never touching the ground. In this state, you know that there is much more to life than your five senses tell you. In this divine place, you write songs and poetry, paint and draw; you dream, meditate, and contemplate. Your intuition flowers, your natural lightness and playfulness have full expression, and a colorful rainbow is always on the horizon.

Other times, when you feel like a mortal human with your feet firmly on earth, it may seem as if a veil obscures the enchanting places you have been, as if clouds have blocked the sunlight. Gemini’s think, “How can I feel one way this morning and now three hours later I cannot see the magic?”

Many Geminis travel between these two worlds. You have a poetic imagination along with a more rational mind. Both sides desire full expression and part of being a twin means providing equal time. If you become too logical, your imaginative self will start tugging at you; if your feet leave the ground too often, the powers of rational analysis will nag at you.
You are likely to feel moody or restless when only one part of you is being expressed. Sometimes it may be that the magical, imaginative world is so bright that you do not feel anchored at all in the practical world. Other times, you may be in your logical, intellectual mode. Because thoughts and feelings are a natural complement to each other, your emotions can help you to bridge these two worlds. If you are irritable, it may be an indication for you to listen to your twin.
